I’ve used Shoeboxed for years. No product improvement. Very slow. Poor account categorization. Looking for alternatives.

Can’t get started. Error 404

The updated app is terrible. I can’t add my receipts manually quickly anymore. The amount from the receipt doesn’t show up either. It takes 10 hits on the “edit” and enter manually button before it even responds. Then afterwards it shows no price Redering my receipts at 00.00. Unless this is fixed I recommend not purchasing this. I wish I could go back to the old format which worked perfectly for me for years.

I attempted 3x to load the program and the app would not allow me to create a user id and password. Kept getting errors. Deleted

I’ve been using this app since 2019 and in the last year or so maintenance has been unsatisfactory. Doesn’t send emails to clients when prompted. Doesn’t produce/add spreadsheet for submission. Works when it wants to. 0 tech support.

Won’t let me setup an account

The app used to work. I’ve been a customer for over 10 years and I’m sorry to see an app with this poor implementation. While I may be on an old and slow phone iPhone 7, I am uptodate on iOS and other apps work fine. This is so slow it takes over 4 minutes to post one receipt. I’ve already lost interest by them, lost the receipt and wish I could lose the phone.

I’ve been using this app for several years and recommend it to EVERYONE! Recently, for the first time EVER, there was some issues with the app and I had to reach out to customer support. They were veeeery responsive and the issue was resolved in a matter of days. Moreover, they followed up with me to ensure the issue had been resolved. As a small business owner, keeping track of my receipts is an important part of my business and Shoeboxed has never let me down.

Definitely serves its purpose! Been using this app for 3+ years (free version), and haven’t had any issues! Bugs get fixed quickly and customer service is very friendly!

I have been using Shoeboxed for at least five years now. It has save me a ton of time and it is very easy to use. They recently did an upgrade and there was a minor glitch and I reported it. They actually cared and emailed me several times until they did an update and fixed it. They are very customer service friendly. Highly recommend.

The camera takes photos of receipts, but some save and the others do not. And the receipts from the app do not sync with desktop online version since April 14th; when I installed the update on my iPhone.

Until the recent updates, this was a great app. The new updates have slowed it down tremendously, the pictures now stay on the phone, and they import in all which directions (upside down, sideways). I’d love to go back to the old app or correct the issues with this one please!!!

The revamp looks nice but takes several seconds to load screens, save changes, etc. It also takes days to finish syncing. This is probably due to having receipts since 2005. The old one only loaded what was needed and performed all tasks very quickly. I can no longer rely on this app to make changes due to the slow speeds and slow data syncing.

I am a tax preparer for businesses; especially long distance truck drivers. Before my clients started using Shoeboxed, I spent countless non- recoverable time receiving, organizing and computing receipts. Then I met Shoeboxed. It was the best thing my company did. I now require all my clients to use this program. Honestly it’s the best thing since sliced bread. I love it and would never have my clients use anything else. Five star in every way. I love using the mileage tracker. I drive hundreds of miles per day. This makes it so easy to track mileage and fuel cost.

Mannn I’m totally loving these new features etc! Makes things so much easier! The ability of multiple pages submission is the best!

LOVE the new interface and the ability to snap multiple photos for long receipts!!

This app was great, I used it for years but since the update the mileage tracker will forget my pinned drives so I can’t track my driving miles (that was one of the main functions in the app I used) disappointing.

After updating to the new version password doenst work anymore and resetting doesn’t help

I have used this service for 3 years, always with good results. My CPA and I are both happy! The latest update has a problem, I login and it’s blank, no data. I go to the website and everything is there, no problem. So I tried to check the app settings and it’s also a blank screen. Great service but the new app has an issue. Update; Yes, I had an issue with the new app not working. I contacted the help desk and with in 24 hours they responded, acknowledging that the app had a problem and the working app had replaced it in the App Store. I I followed her instructions to uninstall the old app and install the replacement, every thing is working wonderfully now! Good Job Guys!

I loved this app until the most recent app update. Now it doesn’t let me login on the mobile app. Have tried changing my password and every time I have no issues logging into the website, but not able to login on the mobile app.

I tried tracking my miles today as I do deliveries with my car. I started tracking then checked after 6 hours and it did not track any of the miles, said I only drove 2.5 miles when I actually did around 30, complete garbage app at the moment. I recommend Stride, used it for 2 years and has worked Amazingly. Was looking for another app and this is not it.

I love Shoeboxed since they've improved it two years ago. I've returned and started to use it and found it it's easier than other receipt softwares I've tried. It's also quickest and fastest. Time saver for sure.

Shoeboxed is an amazing and convenient app. Perfect for on the go receipt and business card scanning. It’s easy to export weekly or monthly receipts with a push of a button, and I can even export my business card information on to my phone.

As a realtor, this app has made my life easier. I hate making spreadsheets and saving a million receipts. I immediately take a photo of my gas receipt, office expense, etc- and it’s immediately categorized and filed. Highly recommend.

This app is very easy to use! Snap a photo and they do the rest. There are more report features if you login online but it’s exactly what I need to track expenses for my small biz. It has saved me so much time that I can now put towards growing my business.

I’ve been using Shoeboxed for years and I’m done. I started double checking every receipt manually after I began catching errors in amounts and categories. It’s gotten worse over time. They just missed a few receipts for me totaling over $7k!!! I can’t tell if they’re outsourcing work to countries where English isn’t the first language but some of the receipt entries make no logical sense. Some of the prices are numbers that don’t exist anywhere on the receipt. I’m done. Use Quickbooks.

I uploaded my first 20 receipts, it immediately duplicated most (sometimes three copies), the rest have been “processing” for almost three days. I emailed support twice but never heard back. Taking money for an app that doesn’t do anything, isn’t that, you know, fraud?

I have been using this app for six years now and love it. A great way to document your receipts for the long run and for tax purposes.

The automatic filling of receipt information is the main feature that makes this app worth anything. They have up to 115 “credits” that you can have automatically imported. If you have a high volume of transactions, look elsewhere.

Love love love shoebox. Perfect for my small business needs. Saves time and keeps me organized. Simple to use.

Finally an easy way to organize & keep track of expenses.

I was very hopeful this would work as advertised. I purchased the full annual business plan ($640) and was given a ‘DIY’ plan with the option to upgrade to the plan I already purchased. I reached out to support but the USA help number does not connect and the international number goes to voicemail.

Constantly loses my mileage, I’ve emailed many times about this and then never fix. I’ll be looking for new solution soon

Terrible. Don’t do it! I have to go through every single receipt by hand to file my taxes for 2020, after entering and paying for it all year. It’s a full blown mess. Furious!

Doesn’t work in landscape view on iPad. Makes it basically unusable for me.

Overall I’m happy with this service. The app has a few bugs, and the website is quirky, but it generally works ok. It’s a bit slow, and not especially good at recognizing receipts in foreign currency, but I always verify everything before exporting an expense report. Nice that you can export as both Excel (csv) and PDF. The PDF includes the photos of your receipts. Also, you can forward email receipts so you don’t need to use the app for those.

I have used this app for a few years but last year or was several months before I had to stop manually changing the mileage rate to the IRS rate. Why isn’t the default automatically changed? Would also like to have mileage info more consolidated for end of year tax purposes-a ton of pages with printed maps of each route is not realistic to give to my accountant. Having actual mileage and not just the cost is what I need (especially since it was well into the year last year before I realized you didn’t update the rate!). I’ve been very loyal and like this for keeping receipts but mileage needs to be simpler for me to continue to use.

Trying again after taking a year off. I am still having the same problem of the dates not being saved. To fix that I have to save the original entry and the reopen it to reinsert the date. Now I remember why I stopped using it.

Every time i try to subscribe the app crashes. I guess they don’t want my money

This app is great... except for the fact that if one doesn’t pay monthly for their service that automatically enters the field information and opts to add receipt information in manually, when finished, the date, method of payment, and tax amounts magically disappear. One must then go back in and re-enter in the information again. My guess is that this is a bug to make people frustrated enough that they will upgrade to the automatic service for a monthly fee. If they would fix this bug, I would give the app 4-5 stars.

The app is useless

I used this app to keep track of all my gas receipts for tax season. Had over 30 receipts ans one day I just opened the app and they were all gone!!!! Not acceptable for what is supposed to do.

Enjoy using this app. Keeps me organized.

User for awhile now. Just noticed a lot of receipts are not showing up. Brought to attention of customer service. They were completely unhelpful. I would guess that this glitch cost my company over $2k. Move on to another provider. They are worth the professionalism and tracking/efficiency help.
